Update: Still Time to Contact Delegates on HJR 2
It’s obvious that at least some members of the Legislature are under the mistaken impression that the acting Supreme Court that intervened in the impeachment of former Justice Margaret Workman stripped them of their power to impeach. This is completely false. There’s still time to contact your delegate(s) and tell them to vote NO on this dangerous, unnecessary amendment to our constitution. More

Tell Delegates to Vote NO on HJR 2
On Monday March 1, the House will be voting on HJR 2, a dangerous, unnecessary amendment to our state consitution. This bill would cut loose future impeachment proceedings of the WV Legislature from all constitutional restraint. Tell delegates to vote NO on HJR 2. More

Power Grabs and a Gift to Special Interests
We're less than two weeks into the 2021 session and the WV Legislature is moving quickly to undermine the ability of West Virginia courts to defend our democracy and guard against abuses of power. And after three consecutive years of not gettting their way, some legislative leaders still want to waste millions of dollars on an unnecessary intermediate court of appeals because big-money, out-of-state, powerful special interests are demanding it. Join Us for a “We Demand Democracy” Virtual Town Hall
Last week, our democracy survived an unacceptable attack, as a violent mob incited by the President attacked the US Capitol in an attempt to change the outcome of the election and disrupt the peaceful transition of power. There's a lot of work to do to repair the damage caused by Trump and his enablers. But, we have an opportunity with the new Congress, to transform our democracy. More

Celebrate Giving Tuesday with WV Citizens for Clean Elections
Our demoncracy depends on a fair and impartial court system and transparent and accountable elections, which is why we formed the WV Citizens for Clean Elections in 2002 to strengthen our democracy and give power back to the people of West Virginia. This Giving Tuesday, will you join us in this fight by donating what you can so we are able to organize West Virginians, and bring our communities together to advance and protect our institutions? A generous supporter has agreed to match every donation up to $10,000. More

Let’s Make It Permanent
This year's pandemic created a new host of obstacles for our elections, forcing West Virginia to get creative in order to keep voters and poll workers safe. This included expanded access to absentee voting options, which allowed voters to make their voices heard without risking their lives -- leading to record turnout across the nation. We saw the impact that increased access to the ballot box had on voter engagement, and we cannot allow that to be taken away. More
