We wanted to make sure you saw our action alert on HR 1, a bold federal democracy refrom package to clean up our political system, expand and protect voting rights, end gerrymandering, and counter the power of big money in politics. Last week, we hosted a virtual town hall in support of HR 1 with our partners and allies and we’re counting on you to join us in the movement to to protect and strengthen the sacred right to vote and return the power of our democracy to the people.
Whether it’s calling members of Congress, writing a letter to editor, or signing the WV NAACP’s petition calling for the removal and disbarment of Attorney General Patrick Morrisey we need your voice to hold our elected officials accountable, expand and protect voting rights, and create a democracy that is representative of all Americans’ voices and values.
We also want to invite you to another Conversation on Democracy issues this Tuesday, January 26 at 7:30PM that we’re co-hosting with our friends at Women’s March WV South. Topics include Citizens United its effects on WV, and how to end it; reforming the electoral college; ranked choice voting and term limits; and change and reform in the Democratic Party.
Making pro-democracy reforms a first priority is the key to making progress on all the other pressing policy issues facing our state and country. We have the opportunity to enact change – and we must do so together!
PS: We need your voice, but we also need your financial support. Can you make a donation, so we continue fighting for free, fair, and safe elections and a fair and impartial courts?
A generous supporter has agreed to match every donation up to $10,000 we receive between now and the end of January, so your donation will have double the impact. We still need to raise about $3,000 in order to reach our goal.
You can donate online or by sending a check to OVEC* at PO Box 6753, Huntington, WV 25773. (Please be sure to include “WV Pro-Democracy Match” in the comment field or memo/for line.)
Thanks, again. We can’t do this without you!
