(Charleston, WV) – WV Citizens for Clean Elections (WVCCE), a coalition of organizations dedicated to increasing election transparency and advancing democratic reforms throughout the state, has launched a program to inform 20,000 West Virginians across the state that their names as they currently appear have been removed from the voter rolls through a new direct mail campaign.

The campaign communicates to West Virginians whose names have been removed from the voter rolls according to data provided by the Secretary of State. The campaign, comprised of one folded piece and one postcard, encourages these individuals to double check their registration status. If they remain eligible to vote, the mailers provide information on how to re-register so they may vote in this year’s elections. The first piece was mailed the week of January 24, with a follow up postcard mailing scheduled for the week of January 31.

“Everyone should have a voice in the decisions affecting their lives. Our goal is to increase voter turnout so everyone across West Virginia has the chance to be heard. This campaign works toward that goal by giving West Virginia voters the information they need to take part in our democratic process,” said WVCCE Coordinator, Julie Archer.

WVCCE is a diverse coalition formed by over 25 organizations ranging from environmental organizations, labor unions, and more. In addition to increasing transparency and accountability in elections and expanding access to the voting, they are dedicated to ensuring fairness and impartiality in our courts.
