Sign the Petition: Voting Rights Now

For nearly six decades, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 has helped to protect voters of color from racially discriminatory voting practices.

But in 2013, the Supreme Court gutted one of its core protections and made it easier for states to restrict the right to voting — especially for people of color.

The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act would restore and strengthen the Voting Rights Act, repairing damage caused by the Supreme Court and modernizing this historic civil rights law.

With states and localities across the country working to pass bills that attack our freedom to vote, we also need the Freedom to Vote Act. This would create baseline national standards to ensure we all have equal access to the ballot and guarantee that congressional districts are drawn to give fair representation for all.

Alongside the Native American Voting Rights Act and DC Statehood, this comprehensive package of legislation would empower everyone to participate fully in democracy.

In order to ensure every person has a voice in shaping our communities and our futures, we must pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, Native American Voting Rights Act, and DC Statehood.

Together we can realize a democracy that represents, reflects, and responds to all of us.

Sign the Petition.

Tell Congress: Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, the Native American Voting Rights Act, and DC Statehood.
