Dear Friends, Partners, and Allies, The scandals sweeping our Supreme Court have been bad enough, but following up with a partisan power-grab from the Governor and legislature is a bridge too far. Please take one minute to sign the petition now and let the Governor and state legislators know that the voters’ voice needs to be heard. Once you’ve signed, please share. Below, I’ve included some sample social media and a sample email for you to send around to your lists. Without this petition and the supporting efforts around it, it is quite possible that a single party, through a pre-planned partisan impeachment process, will seize control of the third branch of government for the next 2 years. I don’t need to tell you how dangerous this would be for the fairness and impartiality of the courts and the rights and liberties that the courts uphold for all West Virginians. The scandals sweeping our Supreme Court have been bad enough, but following up with a partisan power-grab from the Governor and legislature is a bridge too far.
Take a stand for the voice of voters in West Virginia and sign on to the Our Court, Our Vote Petition demanding a prompt and transparent special election for any open seats on our Supreme Court.
During normal times, the Governor gets to make interim appointments to the court. But these are far from normal times. A behind-closed-doors, partisan appointment of so many seats on our Supreme Court is the last thing we need to restore West Virginians confidence in a fair and impartial court. The whole impeachment process has been marred by partisan manipulation.
A fair and impartial West Virginia court is at stake. Our court-protected rights and liberties are at stake.
