UPDATE: Due to the inclement weather and hazardous travel conditions forecast for later today we have made the decision to make this a virtual only event. Details below on how to join us online. Stay safe! January 6th, 2021 was a violent and deadly attack against all Americans – against our country, our democracy, and our freedom as voters to choose the leaders that represent us so that we have a government of, by, and for the people. Since that time, the same faction that attacked our country on January 6th is hard at work silencing our voices by restricting our freedom to vote, attacking fair voting districts, and quietly preparing future attempts to sabotage free and fair elections and with it our democracy. That’s why this year, on January 6th, West Virginians are coming together to say, in America, the voters decide the outcome of elections. At this event, state and local leaders and concerned citizens from diverse backgrounds will share their perspectives on the events of January 6th, 2021 and why it’s critical that our elected leaders take action to prevent future attacks on our democracy, attempts to subvert the will of the voters, protect our freedom to vote and ensure that all Americans have equal access to the ballot ahead of the 2022 elections. This is so important. We’re asking you to not only come, but also asking you to forward this email to anyone who might be interested in attending the vigil. WHO: WV Freedom to Vote Coalition, a coalition of organizations and concerned West Virginians representing veterans, young people, small business owners, faith leaders and current and former elected officials. WHAT: A candlelight vigil to remember the events of January 6th, 2021, and demand that our elected officials take action to prevent this kind of attack from happening again. WHEN: 5:00pm, Thursday, January 6th, 2022 WHERE: WV State Capitol (Riverside steps), 1900 Kanawha Blvd. E. Charleston, WV and Zoom and Facebook We hope to see you tonight!
