Help Us Build Support for the Pro-Democracy, Anti-Corruption Platform

Dear Friends, Partners, and Allies,

Thanks to everyone who joined us for the official launch of our Pro-Democracy, Anti-Corruption Platform on September 18. In addition to many of you, we were honored to be joined by special guests Mary Ann Claytor, former Delegate Clif Moore, and Senator Bob Beach to kick-off this campaign to fix our democracy, give average citizens more ability to have their voices heard, and move toward a government that’s more transparent, accountable, and responsive to the needs of all West Virginians.

We’ll plan to reconvene after the election to assess the political landscape and prepare for the session ahead. In the meantime, here are three easy things you can do to help us build support for the Pro-Democracy Anti-Corruption Platform. Two recent national polls showed that concern about corruption and reducing the influence of special interests are top issues for voters this election, and this is a great opportunity to talk about how we restore balance to our democracy. 1. Distribute our flier at events you are hosting to let your membership and others know about the campaign and how they can get involved.  (Download the filer here or reply to this email to request copies.)
2. Ask candidates where they stand. We’re excited that more than 40 legislative candidates of all parties are supporting our reform agenda to make West Virginia politics clean, fair. and accountable. You can help us get more candidates on the record by asking them if them about the Pro-Democracy, Anti-Corruption Platform at candidate forums, and asking them to respond to the Our Children, Our Future Voter Guide if they haven’t already. (Click here to see if your candidates have answered the questionnaire, and if not reach out and let them know you would like them to — it’s easy!)
3. Help spread the word on Facebook and Twitter using the  using the graphic and sample social media posts below. 

Need more inspiration? Join us for a screening of ‘Dark Money’ – a political thriller that looks at how corporate and special interest money is funneled into our elections and how people in one state are fighting back. We can join them. We’re sponsoring the film as October’s Movie That Matters Monday at the Underground Cinema in Charleston (October 8, 15, 22, and 29).
