Clean Elections Update
More good news today on our Supreme Court Public Financing Pilot Project!
Although there was some spirited discussion, Judiciary Chair Senator Jeffrey
Kessler (D-Marshall) skillfully shepherded the Committee Substitute for HB 4130.
An amendment offered by Senator Evan Jenkins(D-Cabell), to limit the pilot to
only one of the two Supreme Court seats being contested in 2012, failed. HB 4130
passed Senate Judiciary and will move to its final committee, Senate Finance. We
hope that Senator Walt Helmick (D-Pocahontas), the Finance Chair, will take the
bill up quickly. Please keep up those contacts with your Senators and ask them
to support the pilot project!
We're so close! And we will keep you posted this week. Thanks for your help!
