Clean Elections Update

Dear Clean Elections Supporters,

There will be three public hearings with the new Judicial Elections Commission, at which we can express our support for public financing for judicial elections in West Virginia. I will let you know specific locations and times as soon as that information is available, but for now, you may want to mark your calendars for these dates:

August 28 - Campaign Financing - Marshall (Huntington)
September 21 - Judicial selection - Morgantown
September 29 - Intermediate Court of Appeals - Charleston

Although the meetings have a particular topic, citizens are invited to make comments or ask questions about any judicial election related topics at any of these hearings. We would really appreciate your support at the hearings to keep the possibility of public financing in front of the Commission.

For more information or to submit ideas to the Commission visit http://www.judicialreform.wv.gov.

And from our allies at Public Campaign in Washington: the Fair Elections Now Act ( FENA - the national clean elections bill) had a very favorable hearing last week in the Committee on House Administration. We can help draw attention to the need for public financing for federal elections by contacting our  WV Senators and Congresspeople. Ask them to co-sponsor  the FENA legislation - bills numbers HR 1826 and S 752, for House and Senate respectively.

Thanks for all you do! Please plan to join us at the public hearings!
